Our Story
Founded in 1926, the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club emerged from a collective passion for gardening among local families in the newly established Rancho Santa Fe community. An anonymous donor generously funded the construction of a clubhouse, while club members contributed furnishings, establishing a vibrant hub for gardening activities, workshops, and social events. Incorporated as a nonprofit in 1937, the club has played a pivotal role in community engagement, even serving as a Civilian Casualty Center during World War II. Members supported the war effort by crafting wreaths for military hospital patients and spearheaded initiatives like the first clean-up campaign in San Diego County.
Since 1957, the club has collaborated with the Rancho Santa Fe Association to enhance the community's beauty through roadside plantings and landscaping projects. Recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club has awarded over $1 million in grants to local nonprofits, fostering a spirit of cooperation and environmental stewardship.
