About Ralph Scott Lifeservices

Founded in 1971, Ralph Scott Lifeservices began as North Carolina's first community-based group home, established by dedicated members of the Alamance County community. This initiative was part of a groundbreaking state program aimed at providing an alternative to institutional care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The first home opened in Elon, NC, welcoming ten men transitioning from Murdoch Center, followed by a women's home in 1973. In 1991, the organization evolved into Ralph Scott Lifeservices, honoring Senator Ralph H. Scott, a champion for children with developmental disabilities.
