Our Story
In 2001, the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium was established to address the complexities of horse racing regulations across the United States. This initiative emerged from the Racehorse Medication Summit, where key stakeholders united to enhance the safety and integrity of the sport.
Impact on Horse Racing
With over $3 million invested in more than 50 research studies, RMTC has made significant strides in detecting banned substances and ensuring therapeutic medications do not compromise racehorse performance. Notably, the incidence of fatal injuries in flat racing has decreased by 23% since the introduction of standardized injury reporting.
