Founded in 1992 by the Women’s Philanthropy Division of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts, Rachel’s Table was established to combat food insecurity in the Springfield and Longmeadow areas. Over the years, it has expanded its reach to serve Hampshire, Hampden, and Franklin Counties, and occasionally Hartford County in Connecticut.
Rachel’s Table collects approximately 70,000 pounds of surplus food from local grocery stores, restaurants, farmers markets, and bakeries. This food is delivered to over 65 food pantries, shelters, after-school programs, community meals, and other agencies that support individuals facing food insecurity.
