Our Story
Founded in 1976, Putnam County Family Support Services Inc, now known as Family Support Services of West Central Indiana, has been a beacon of hope for families in Putnam, Owen, Clay, Montgomery, Parke, and Boone counties. The organization was established with a mission to prevent child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence through comprehensive education, guidance, and supportive services. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach and services, providing essential home visitation for families at risk, advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and free childcare to alleviate stressors for families.
With a commitment to addressing the emotional and physical needs of victims, Family Support Services offers county-wide prevention programming that increases protective factors and improves social norms. Each year, the organization serves over 1,000 families through its Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Prevention and Intervention Program, Healthy Families Program, and various outreach initiatives.
