About PushPush Arts

Founded in 1997 by dedicated Atlanta artists Tim Habeger and Shelby Hofer, PushPush Arts has evolved from its humble beginnings in a black box theater to a vibrant arts incubator. Originally known as PushPush Theater, the organization has fostered thousands of artists and projects over the years, making a significant impact on the local arts community.

Our Journey

After relocating to a larger facility in Decatur in 2003, PushPush Arts launched the Dailies Filmmaker program, which incubated and produced over 250 short films and features from 2004 to 2009. The organization has received numerous grants, including a travel grant from TCG in 2010 to develop the Portal International Exchange program. In 2011, PushPush Arts was awarded an NEA New Media grant, which allowed for the production of a pilot for a new television series and the launch of innovative arts programs.

Current Initiatives

In 2019, PushPush Arts became an official Arts Partner for a major Conversion Project adjacent to the College Park MARTA Station. This initiative aims to create an affordable and progressive hub for groundbreaking artists, including live/work housing, a performance café, and multiple galleries and performance spaces. The organization is committed to developing an Arts Cooperative that will serve as a unique incubator for multidisciplinary work in Historic Downtown College Park.
