Our Story
Established nearly a century ago, the Purchase Free Library began as a humble reading room within the Purchase Community House. Officially chartered in June 1928 by the State of New York, it has evolved into a vibrant independent library. This library combines the charm and personal touch of a small-town library with the extensive resources of the Westchester Library System, which boasts over 4 million books and materials. The Purchase Free Library serves as a welcoming space for both children and adults, fostering community connections and a love for reading.
