Our Story

Puppetry in Practice began as a club at Brooklyn College in 1979, founded by Tova Ackerman. The organization was created to help teachers utilize folktales and stories from around the globe to explore diverse cultures and promote friendship in classrooms. Over the past 40 years, PiP has evolved to include bilingual residencies and collaborations with international artists, enriching the educational experience through storytelling and creative expression.

Impact

Puppetry in Practice engages students in language learning and creative expression through the arts, fostering cultural awareness and community connections.
