Empowering Women and Families
Founded in 1973, Prudence Crandall Center for Women began as a grassroots effort by women to address the health, employment, and social service needs of local women. Recognizing the urgent need for emergency housing for those facing domestic violence, the center established Connecticut's first shelter for battered women. Over the years, the center has evolved to serve men, women, and children, providing a continuum of shelter, housing, and support services aimed at helping victims achieve self-sufficiency and safety.
Making a Lasting Impact
Each year, Prudence Crandall Center touches the lives of 8,000 adults and children, offering comprehensive services that empower victims of domestic violence to heal and move forward.
