Proyecto Pastoral

Our Story

Founded in 1986 by Father Greg Boyle, S.J., and dedicated parishioners, Proyecto Pastoral emerged from the Boyle Heights community's urgent need to combat poverty, gang violence, and educational disparities. This grassroots initiative, led by local residents, particularly women, has developed impactful programs such as Early Childhood Education Centers and the IMPACTO Youth Development Program. In 2010, Proyecto expanded its reach with Promesa Boyle Heights, uniting over 35 organizations to foster community transformation.

Impact

Each year, Proyecto Pastoral serves over 6,000 children and families, focusing on early childhood education, youth development, and homelessness support. The organization is dedicated to building community power and driving transformational change rooted in justice and self-determination.
