Our Story
The Provincetown Film Society (PFS) began as the Provincetown International Film Festival in 1999. This non-profit arts organization is dedicated to showcasing new achievements in independent film while honoring the work of both emerging and acclaimed directors, producers, and actors. Through the annual Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF), the year-round operation of the Water’s Edge Cinema, and the Gabrielle A. Hanna Provincetown Film Institute, PFS contributes significantly to the economic and creative vitality of America’s oldest art colony.
