Our Story

Founded in 1988, the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program (PNPP) is a collaborative effort between the Mary Elizabeth Sharpe Providence Neighborhood Planting Program Fund, the City of Providence, and local residents. This initiative focuses on planting and caring for trees in Providence, fostering a more equitable urban forest through community partnerships.

Our Impact

As of June 2024, PNPP has successfully planted over 15,500 street trees in partnership with the City’s Forestry Division. This initiative prioritizes neighborhoods with the lowest tree canopy cover, addressing environmental injustice and enhancing public health.
