Prospect Meadows

Our Story

In 2010, local businessman Rick Freese envisioned a world-class baseball and softball complex in Linn County. Partnering with Cedar Rapids Kernels General Manager Jack Roeder, they established Prospect Meadows Inc. as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011. After a successful feasibility study and securing a 95-year lease for 128 acres, a fundraising committee raised $11.75 million for Phase 1. The complex opened on May 23, 2019, with Perfect Game as the anchor tenant, bringing 1,000 teams annually for 15 years.

Impact

In the 2022 season, Prospect Meadows generated over $11 million in new spending at local businesses and provided more than 24,000 hotel room nights in Linn County, showcasing its significant economic impact.
