Equitable Access To Music Education
Diversity In Classical Music
Support For Underrepresented Youth In The Arts

About Project STEP

Founded in 1982, Project STEP (String Training Education Program) provides talented young musicians from historically underrepresented groups with comprehensive music instruction. With a mission to reflect the racial and ethnic diversity of the classical music profession, Project STEP has introduced over 2,000 children to music, breaking down socio-economic barriers and nurturing their musical and personal growth.

Impact of Project STEP

With a remarkable 100% of graduates attending college or conservatory, and approximately 60% pursuing music professionally, Project STEP empowers students to become well-rounded individuals and role models. This initiative not only benefits the students but also enriches the Greater Boston community by promoting diversity in classical music.
