Our Story
Project Self-Sufficiency began in 1985 in Huntington Beach, California, as part of a national initiative by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In March 2018, the organization expanded its services throughout Orange County, now located at the Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living in Newport Beach.
Impact
About 80% of PSS Scholars successfully graduate with a degree, which is four times the national average for low-income students. 100% of graduates report higher incomes, stable housing, and improved self-esteem.
