Our Story

Founded in 2018 by Dirrick Butler and a dedicated team, Project OneTen addresses systemic challenges faced by Black and Brown boys transitioning to high school. Inspired by Dr. WEB DuBois's 'Talented Tenth,' the organization focuses on leadership development and academic success through targeted coaching and a research-based curriculum. Since launching its pilot program in 2019, Project OneTen has adapted to meet the needs of its students, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to impact over 200 students annually.

Our Impact

Project OneTen is committed to ensuring that each student completes their freshman year on track, achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This goal is vital for their long-term academic success and self-determination. The organization has successfully provided mental health resources and built a supportive community of mentors to guide students through their high school journey.
