Our Story
Project Motherpath, originally founded as Birthgirlz in 2009, emerged from the passion of two dedicated women committed to supporting mothers in their communities. From organizing protests to hosting playgroups, the founders focused on sharing resources and building a strong network for local moms. Over the years, Birthgirlz provided free community doulas, facilitated monthly support groups for postpartum adjustment and infant loss, and campaigned for increased access to vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) in birth centers across the state. The VBAC Summit conferences in 2010 and 2011 were milestones in advocating for women's rights in childbirth. Today, Project Motherpath continues this legacy, broadening its focus to address the full spectrum of challenges facing mothers in Miami. The organization believes that pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting are transformative processes that are enhanced through informed choices and community connections.
