Founded in 2016 by Kurt DeGroot during his service at a fire department in the south suburbs of Chicago, Project Fire Buddies has grown exponentially with the support of dedicated members and families. Each month, new departments join our mission, expanding our reach and impact.
Currently, Project Fire Buddies supports 135 children and families facing pediatric critical illness, adding 6 new Fire Buddies every month!
