Akilah Institute

Our Story

Founded in 2009, Akilah Institute was established to create opportunities for young people in Rwanda, where less than 1% of the population enrolled in higher education. As the first female-only college in the country, Akilah has transformed lives by providing education and leadership training. In 2020, Davis College was launched to extend this transformative model to young men, further expanding access to quality education. Today, thousands of graduates from across East Africa are making their mark in various industries.

Impact

With an impressive 86% of alumnae employed within six months of graduation, Akilah is making a significant difference. Additionally, 89% of graduates support at least one family member financially, showcasing the ripple effect of education on communities.
