Our Story

In 2010, Nita Kurmins Gilson noticed an alarming amount of fruit from neighborhood trees lying on the ground, a clear sign of food waste. Despite efforts with friends and family to glean this excess and donate it to local food banks, the challenge was too great to tackle alone. In 2014, Nita met Jerilyn and Alexandra White, who shared her vision for change. Together, they founded ProduceGood, which has since become the largest gleaning organization in San Diego County.

Our Impact

ProduceGood is dedicated to reducing food waste and alleviating hunger by connecting surplus produce with food-insecure communities. Annually, over 24,000 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables are supplied to dozens of organizations, equating to 500,000 meals for those in need.
