Welcome to Pretend City

Founded in 1999 by visionary locals Sandy Stone and Alex Airth, Pretend City, The Children's Museum of Orange County, has become a beacon of early childhood education and community engagement. After years of strategic planning and fundraising, the museum opened its doors in August 2009, transforming the lives of countless families. Over the past 15 years, Pretend City has welcomed over 2 million visitors into its innovative educational wonderland, offering a unique space where children can learn through play.

Impacting Lives

Since its inception, Pretend City has provided free or reduced-cost field trips for more than 76,000 children, completed over 7,400 health screenings, and hosted more than 8,600 individuals in free autism programs. The museum also distributes over 29,000 Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ’s) to support developmental health screenings.
