Our Story
Premier Academy was founded in 1971 by a dedicated group of parents in the Bedford Pine/Donner Project community of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward. Their vision was to provide high-quality, affordable childcare to low-income families. In 1973, Premier Academy became a non-profit organization, ensuring that every child, regardless of socio-economic background, could access quality education and care.
In 1981, the doors of the Angier Avenue facility opened, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s journey. Over the years, Premier Academy has evolved, appointing its first Board of Directors in 1977 and later relocating to its current headquarters, Renaissance, in 2018. Today, Premier Academy serves nearly 500 children annually across two locations, continuing its mission to bridge the achievement gap.
