Music Education for Young Students
Community Engagement Through Performances

About Prelude Strings

Founded by Annette Brower in 1994, Prelude Strings was established to provide young students, starting at age eight, with their first orchestral experience. With the support of the Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts, this initiative began as a 10-week class through the Tustin Parks and Recreation Department. Under the direction of passionate conductor Helen Weed, Prelude Strings has grown from a modest group of 10 musicians to a vibrant community of approximately 110 talented young musicians across three ensembles: Prelude String Orchestra, Prelude Sinfonia, and Prelude Chamber Strings.

Impact in the Community

Since its inception, Prelude Strings has enriched the lives of hundreds of young musicians by providing them with opportunities to perform at prestigious venues throughout Orange County. From community churches to renowned locations such as Disneyland, South Coast Plaza, and the Segerstrom Concert Hall, these performances not only showcase the talents of young musicians but also foster a love for music within the community.
