About Portland Workforce Alliance
The Portland Workforce Alliance began in 2004 as a collaborative effort to connect young people in Portland with promising career paths. Founded by leaders from Portland City Hall, Portland Public Schools, and the Oregon governor’s office, PWA has grown to provide approximately 10,000 career-learning experiences each year. The annual NW Youth Careers Expo, a signature event, attracts over 6,000 students and nearly 200 exhibitors, showcasing diverse career opportunities.
Impact on Youth and Workforce
PWA serves as a vital link between high school students and local employers, facilitating mentorships, mock interviews, and classroom speakers. By working closely with school districts and community colleges, PWA builds essential career pathways that empower young people to thrive in the workforce.
