Our Story

The Portland Fruit Tree Project was established in 2006 to address the surplus of fruit falling from trees in North and Northeast Portland. What began as a neighborhood initiative blossomed into a nonprofit organization in 2007. Over the years, PFTP has hosted over 750 harvest events, founded five Community Orchards, and conducted numerous educational workshops on fruit tree care and food preservation.

Our Impact

PFTP has harvested an impressive 447,219 pounds of fruit, valued at $889,966, engaging nearly 12,000 volunteers and coordinating 947 harvesting events. This effort has significantly benefited individuals facing food insecurity through culturally responsive partnerships.
