Port Ministries

Our Story

Inspired by St. Francis and the Franciscan Charism, Port Ministries is dedicated to meeting the fundamental needs of the mind, body, and spirit. Founded in 1985 by Father Augustin Milon, OFM, this organization began as a humble soup kitchen in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, a community grappling with violence, homelessness, and drug abuse. Over the years, Port Ministries has transformed into a comprehensive support system, offering a range of programs and services to uplift the under-resourced and underserved residents of Englewood and Gage Park.

Our Impact

Port Ministries serves over 1,400 patients through its Free Health Clinic and delivers more than 134,000 meals annually via its Bread Truck, significantly improving the lives of community members.
