About Poor Robert's Mission

Established in 2015, Poor Robert's Mission continues the charitable legacy of Bobby Abbo, who began fundraising efforts in 1967. Initially raising funds for the Little Sisters of the Poor, Bobby's success led to the formation of Poor Robert's Charities, Inc. in 1981. Through annual events like golf tournaments and cocktail parties, PRC significantly increased its fundraising efforts, providing cash and in-kind grants to various nonprofit organizations.

After Bobby's passing in 2014, his nephew Zachary Huke took the helm, ensuring that the mission's work would continue. In its first year, Poor Robert's Mission distributed over 5,500 turkeys to local organizations, and the momentum has only grown since then. In 2023, the mission distributed an impressive 7,044 turkeys to 102 charities in the Washington, DC area, bringing joy and hope to over 600 families during the holiday season.
