Our Story
The Polk Theatre, built in 1928, stands as a historic movie palace and community center in Lakeland, Florida. Originally a venue for vaudeville acts and films, it faced challenges in the 1960s and 70s. In 1982, a dedicated group of citizens formed a nonprofit organization to save this cultural gem, purchasing it for $300,000. After a major restoration in 1999, the theatre continues to thrive as a beloved local venue.
