Established in 1999, the Polk County School Readiness Coalition, Inc., known as The Early Learning Coalition of Polk County, has become a cornerstone of early education and care in the community. With a commitment to serving as many as 9,000 children each month, the Coalition utilizes federal, state, and local funding to provide essential programs that foster the development of young minds.

Quality Early Education Initiatives

In 2005, the Coalition expanded its mission by incorporating the Voluntary PreKindergarten Program (VPK), which now serves nearly 5,000 children across Polk County. This initiative is crucial in preparing children for their educational journey, ensuring they have the foundational skills necessary for success.

In response to the evolving needs of families, the Coalition has adapted its programs over the years, particularly following the education bill signed into law in 2013. This legislation aimed to streamline services and enhance support for families and children in need.
