Playa Vista Job Opportunities and Business Services (PVJOBS) was established in 1998 to address the urgent need for job opportunities among at-risk residents in Los Angeles. Initially formed to fulfill a mandate from the Los Angeles City Council, PVJOBS has evolved into a national leader in providing job programs tailored for individuals facing significant barriers to employment.

With a strong focus on construction job placements, PVJOBS collaborates with over 130 community-based organizations to offer comprehensive employment preparation, pre-apprenticeship training, and job placement services. Participants gain essential technical and soft skills, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in today’s competitive job market.

PVJOBS prioritizes middle-class employment opportunities that come with health insurance benefits, pension plans, and regular pay increases. By partnering with local construction projects, particularly those affiliated with unions, PVJOBS helps participants overcome financial barriers such as initiation fees and the cost of tools and clothing through supportive services.

In its commitment to fostering career-track employment, PVJOBS guarantees a minimum of 3,000 hours of labor for each worker, facilitating re-referrals to similar trade positions after contract completion or layoffs. This approach not only enhances job security but also encourages construction companies to retain PVJOBS workers across various projects.

Over the past two decades, PVJOBS has positively impacted nearly 20,000 residents of Los Angeles, successfully placing more than 8,000 individuals in sustainable employment.
