Our Story
Planting Justice was founded by Haleh Zandi and Gavin Raders to combat food injustice and foster a sustainable food system. Emerging from anti-war activism, Zandi sought to create constructive solutions that empower communities. Through sustainable agriculture, the organization builds community, provides living-wage jobs, and offers educational programs that link food justice with broader social justice issues.
Impact
Planting Justice has successfully employed 22 individuals, including 11 men re-entering society from prison, showcasing the effectiveness of their holistic re-entry program. Their initiatives provide dignified jobs, educational opportunities, and healthy food access, significantly contributing to community healing and empowerment.
