Our Story

Founded during the Civil Rights Movement of the early 1960s, Plan of Action for Challenging Times Inc (PACT, Inc.) has been a beacon of hope for young people in the Bay Area. Established by Everett Brandon and Henry Lucas, PACT was one of the first organizations to address the educational needs of African American youth, launching a federal Department of Education Talent Search program on the West Coast. For nearly 60 years, PACT has adapted to meet the evolving needs of the community, providing free support to underserved students and students of color.

Impact

PACT has positively impacted over 60,000 young lives, with approximately 36,000 students successfully placed in colleges and post-secondary institutions, many with financial assistance. The organization has a proven track record of increasing college graduation rates among low-income and minority students in the Bay Area.
