About Placitas Wild

Founded in 2003, Placitas Wild began as a grassroots effort by concerned citizens dedicated to the welfare of the free-roaming horses in Placitas, New Mexico. Initially, this informal group provided food and water to these majestic animals, which have roamed the area for centuries. As the community faced challenges related to the horses' habitat, including droughts and development, Placitas Wild officially organized as a New Mexico corporation in 2015.

Our Mission

Placitas Wild is committed to providing care for wild horses, ensuring they receive the food, water, and veterinary care they need to thrive. The organization has transitioned into a haven for these horses, offering them a safe space amidst shrinking habitats and increasing threats from development and environmental changes.

Impact

Every donation directly supports the feeding, safekeeping, and veterinary care of the horses. With an average cost of $13 per bale of hay and 16 bales needed daily, your contributions make a significant difference.

Why Donate?

Your support is crucial for the health and well-being of the wild horses. Hoof treatments average $40 per horse, and every dollar helps improve their quality of life. Together, we can ensure these beautiful creatures receive the care they deserve.
