Our Story
Founded in 1998, Placer Theatre Ballet (PTB) began with a small production of The Nutcracker featuring just 35 dancers. Over the years, it has blossomed into a full-scale, pre-professional ballet company, showcasing the talents of over 100 young dancers from various dance studios across the region. The annual production of The Nutcracker has captivated more than 45,000 patrons, becoming a beloved holiday tradition for families in South Placer and beyond.
PTB not only enriches the cultural landscape of downtown Auburn but also highlights the historic Placer High School Theater. In 2001, the company expanded its offerings by introducing a spring ballet, which has included enchanting performances such as Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Additionally, PTB has hosted benefit performances for local nonprofits, including Live Oak Waldorf School and Stand Up Placer, fostering a spirit of community and collaboration.
In 2008, PTB launched school-only performances, allowing students from Georgetown to Roseville to experience ballet for the first time. This initiative has opened the doors to the arts for countless children, making ballet accessible and enjoyable.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Shea Wing, who has been with PTB since 2008, the company continues to thrive, producing captivating full-length ballets that inspire and engage audiences.
