Our Story
Founded in 1975 by four Dominican Nuns, The Place of Forsyth County has been a beacon of hope for those in need. Initially offering financial assistance, clothing, shelter, food, and tutoring, The Place has evolved into a vital community resource. In 2015, a workforce development initiative was launched to empower the unemployed and under-employed, helping them secure meaningful jobs. The 2021 merger with Dawson County’s RIC-Rack thrift store and food pantry expanded the reach and impact of our services, allowing us to provide emergency financial assistance, clothing, food, and educational opportunities to those in Forsyth and Dawson counties.
