PLACE is a dedicated nonprofit organization that collaborates with cities to envision and create mixed-income, transit-oriented developments. These developments not only provide affordable living opportunities but also integrate the arts, fostering a vibrant community spirit. The first complete community, WAV (Working Artists Ventura), established in 2009, serves as a model for sustainable living, offering affordable live/work homes for artists and families transitioning out of homelessness.

Making a Lasting Impact

PLACE has successfully developed WAV, the nation’s first sustainable arts community, and the Via Sol community in Minnesota, which features hundreds of mixed-income apartments with innovative sustainability features. These projects empower communities and promote environmental stewardship.
