Our Story
Founded in 1988, the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group (PCRG) emerged as a coalition of community-based organizations responding to the detrimental effects of "redlining" in low-income neighborhoods. By leveraging the Federal Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, PCRG has forged partnerships with 15 financial institutions and Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Authority. This collaboration has led to the creation of innovative home purchase mortgage programs, home improvement loans, and commercial lending products, significantly enhancing access to credit for underserved communities.
With a commitment to holistic community revitalization, PCRG has tirelessly advocated for sound public policies that uplift low- to moderate-income neighborhoods. The organization has become a nationally recognized leader in equitable lending, striving to influence systemic change at all levels of government.
