Our Story

The Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (PAHL) was founded in 1960 by a dedicated group of individuals, including Walter Brown and Judge John Brosky, with the vision of creating a youth hockey league in the Pittsburgh area. Starting with just 30 players, the league has grown to encompass over 5,600 players across more than 30 rinks and 25 member associations in Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio. This remarkable growth reflects a commitment to youth development and the love of hockey.

Impact

Over its 60+ years, the PAHL has transformed youth hockey in the region, establishing a robust network of associations and rinks that support the sport and its players.
