Our Story
Founded in 1964 by a dedicated group of local parents, the Pioneer Valley Montessori Society was born out of a desire to provide children with a quality Montessori education. With the generous donation of land from Richard and Emma Wilder Anderson, the first classroom was built within a year. Over the decades, the school has expanded to accommodate growing enrollment, adding classrooms and programs, including a Montessori elementary program in 1979 and a toddler classroom in 1999. Emma Wilder Anderson, in her 90s, symbolically broke ground for the toddler classroom, showcasing the enduring commitment to education.
