Our Story

Established in 1924, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has been a cornerstone for the Black and BIPOC community in Minneapolis for nearly a century. This historic center provides essential community-based programming, pre-K education, and uplifting events that foster a sense of belonging and empowerment.

For 100 years, PWCC has served as a trusted haven for families in North Minneapolis, offering a safe space for children to learn, grow, and thrive. The center is dedicated to building a society where diversity is celebrated and every voice is heard.
