Our Story

Founded by Comfort Dondo, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence, Phumulani was created to support African immigrants and refugees in Minnesota. Comfort's personal experiences highlighted the gaps in resources available to women facing similar challenges, leading to the establishment of Phumulani, which means "lover of peace" in Zulu.

Our Impact

Phumulani provides culturally-specific resources to women and girls of African descent, aiming to change the cycle of gender-based abuse in vulnerable populations.
