Our Story

The Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre was founded in 1983 by Bryan Fonseca, emerging from the closure of the Broad Ripple Playhouse. It began with a performance of the science fiction play Warp! in the historic Ambassador Hotel. After moving to a church in 1988, it became a vibrant home for the arts for 30 years, dedicated to nurturing new plays and emerging playwrights while enhancing the community's reputation as an arts destination.

Impact

Donations to the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre empower the production of new works from rising playwrights, employ local artists, and bring diverse stories to life, fostering understanding among communities. The organization also provides free acting classes for seniors and veterans, enhancing community engagement through initiatives like the Trail Talk series.
