Our Story

In July 2020, a powerful idea emerged from two significant events. Attending a higher education conference, the inspiring keynote by the author of Homeless to Harvard highlighted the transformative power of education. Coincidentally, on July 30, the United Nations' World Day Against Trafficking in Persons sparked a deep interest in the human trafficking crisis in the U.S. This led to the founding of the Phoenix Rising Education Program (PREP), dedicated to providing higher education opportunities for survivors of human trafficking.

Through discussions with cofounders, it became clear that prevention was equally vital. Thus, PREP established two core missions: preventing child exploitation, particularly online, and offering scholarships to survivors of human trafficking. With a background in Clinical Forensic Psychology, the founder's passion for aiding victims of sex crimes has been reignited, leading to the evolution of PREP over the past three years.
