PFund Foundation

Our Story

Founded in 1987, PFund Foundation emerged from the urgent needs of the LGBTQ+ community during the AIDS crisis. A collective of queer individuals in Minneapolis came together to support funeral costs and legal barriers faced by gay adults. This collaboration led to the creation of an LGBTQ+ endowment, ultimately forming the Philanthrofund Foundation, now known as PFund. The foundation has evolved to focus on scholarships for young queer adults and grants for LGBTQ+ organizations, fostering resilience and empowerment.

Impact

Since its inception, PFund Foundation has distributed millions in grants to hundreds of LGBTQ+ students across the Upper Midwest. In response to the growing needs of queer and trans+ individuals, PFund doubled its grantmaking to $1 Million for the 2023-2024 period, addressing barriers faced by BIPOC and rural LGBTQ+ communities.
