Our Story

The Philadelphia Music Alliance was founded in June 1986 as a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving Philadelphia as one of the nation’s oldest and most prolific music capitals. Established by music executives and concerned citizens, the PMA recognizes the vast contributions of Philadelphia to all musical genres.

Impact on the Community

The PMA ensures a vibrant music-making community through music education programs for city school students and local college students. By partnering with outstanding organizations like Musicopia and Project 440, the PMA fills the void left by shrinking budgets for cultural programs in our schools.
