About Peterborough Folk Music Society

The Peterborough Folk Music Society emerged from the legacy of The Folkway, a beloved coffee house in Peterborough, NH, which closed its doors in 1996. A group of dedicated board members sought to preserve the spirit of folk music in the Monadnock Region by establishing a non-profit organization. Since then, the Society has been committed to showcasing innovative, entertaining, and diverse musicians.

Our Journey

Just nine days after The Folkway's closure, the Society hosted its first concert featuring renowned artists Dar Williams and Peter Mulvey. The overwhelming attendance set the tone for future events. Initially held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, the Society later moved to the Peterborough Players, where the acoustics and seating provided an exceptional concert experience. In 2022, the Society expanded its reach by presenting larger concerts at the state-of-the-art Park Theater in Jaffrey, NH.
