About Perseus House Charter School of Excellence

Opened in 2003, the Charter School of Excellence (CSE) was established through a partnership between the Erie School District and Perseus House, Inc. Recognizing the need for diverse educational options in Erie, CSE has grown significantly over the years. Starting with a single location, it now encompasses multiple campuses, including a middle school and a Skills Center, all designed to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Innovative Learning Environments

At CSE, students benefit from state-of-the-art instructional technology and a curriculum that emphasizes critical and creative thinking skills essential for the 21st century. The middle school offers hands-on learning opportunities and a variety of extracurricular programs, including STEAM and Industry Club, ensuring that students are not only academically prepared but also engaged in their education.

Skills Center: Preparing for the Future

The Skills Center, located in the renovated Lovell Place, provides a college-like atmosphere where students can explore high-interest electives such as Culinary Arts, Media Arts, and Graphic Design. This center also features a workforce development program that equips students with essential soft skills through employment seminars, preparing them for successful careers.

With a focus on at-risk students, CSE maintains small class sizes, allowing for personalized attention from certified teachers.
