Our Story

Penn Center, established in 1862, stands as one of the first schools in the South for formerly enslaved individuals. Over the years, it has transformed into a multi-service nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the rich Gullah culture while addressing contemporary community needs through various educational and community programs.
