Our Story
Founded in 1980, Pelican Harbor Seabird Station began as a humble tool shed dedicated to the care of injured brown pelicans. Over the years, it has transformed into an internationally recognized center for seabird rehabilitation, expanding its mission to assist all native wildlife. With a commitment to community involvement and partnerships with local and federal agencies, the station has treated thousands of sick, injured, orphaned, and displaced wild animals each year.
Impact
In 2023 alone, Pelican Harbor Seabird Station treated 2,209 patients across more than 131 native species, contributing to a remarkable total of over 43,000 patients treated since its inception. With a release rate of 65% for rehabilitated wildlife, the organization effectively returns healthy animals back to their ecosystems.
