Our Story
In May 2005, an unexpected arrival of 135 Army Troops at Portsmouth International Airport sparked the creation of the Pease Greeters organization. Airport Manager Bill Hopper and Maintenance Manager Alan Weston welcomed the troops with coffee and donuts, leading to a dedicated group of military veterans and civilians committed to honoring service members. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2007, Pease Greeters has welcomed over 310,000 troops, including NATO allies, and sent care packages to those deployed overseas.
Impact
Pease Greeters has provided food, support, and a warm welcome to over 310,000 troops during their layovers at Portsmouth International Airport. The organization’s commitment to sending care packages to troops overseas further demonstrates its dedication to honoring military personnel.
